La Transat Anglaise, renaissance d’une course mythique L’édition 2016 de The Transat, transatlantique en solitaire de 3 000 milles entre Plymouth et New York, réunira quelques-uns des plus grands noms de la course au large professionnelle. En cette première journée du Salon Nautique de Paris, OC Sport, organisateur de la course, annoncent déjà une quinzaine d’engagés. Cette épreuve incontournable se tient tous les quatre ans et partira le 2 mai prochain de Plymouth en Angleterre. D’autres inscrits sont également attendus dans les jours à venir. Hervé Favre, Directeur du pôle course au large d’OC Sport, a pris la parole lors de la présentation officielle sur la scène du Salon Nautique de Paris ce vendredi, entouré de plusieurs des skippers inscrits. Il s’est dit très heureux de la richesse et de la qualité du plateau pour l’édition 2016 qui s’annonce comme une renaissance. “Nous assistons déjà au retour de grands noms de la voile sur la Transat Anglaise et d’autres skippers très compétitifs devraient ajouter leur nom à la liste des participants dans chacune des quatre classes représentées”, a t’il déclaré. Pour la première fois de son histoire, la Transat Anglaise sera précédée par un « warm up », entre St Malo et le village officiel de la course à Plymouth. Un village sera également installé à St Malo quatre jours avant le départ de la flotte, et les journalistes, sponsors et invités auront l’occasion de naviguer à bord des bateaux qui rejoindront l’Angleterre.   La flotte IMOCA de The Transat 2016 réunira entre autres Sébastien Josse sur Gitana, Jean-Pierre Dick sur St Michel-Virbac Sailing Team, Armel Le Cleac’h sur Team Banque Populaire et Paul Meilhat sur SMA. En Ultime, deux skippers se sont dores et déjà engagés : Yves Le Blevec sur Actual et Thomas Coville sur Sodebo. Thomas Coville (Sodebo) : « La Transat Anglaise, pour moi, c’est d’abord un souvenir d’enfance. C’est la première émotion de voile que j’ai eue avec mon père. Je me souviens très bien du bonheur de voir mon père lors de la victoire d’Eric Tabarly. J’avais 8 ans et j’ai vécu cette émotion avec lui et la course au large est restée un sujet qu’on avait en commun et qui faisait l’unanimité à la maison. » Yves Le Blevec (Team Actual) : « Pour nous, la Transat Anglaise est partie dès que la Transat Jacques Vabre s’est interrompue. Dès que l’on a décidé de rentrer, je me suis tout de suite dit que l’échéance prochaine était The Transat. C’est du solo et c’est le boulot de cet hiver. C’est compliqué parce qu’on navigue au début du printemps, en Atlantique Nord avec la probabilité de traverser beaucoup de systèmes qui peuvent être assez rapeux. Si je veux être efficace en solitaire dans ce type d’environnement, il va falloir que je trouve le mode d’emploi. The Transat réunira également des monocoques Class40 et des Multi-50. Cinq skippers en Class40 sont actuellement inscrits, dont deux femmes : la Britannique Miranda Merron sur Campagne de France et l’Allemande Anna-Maria Renken sur Nivea. Anna-Maria Renken (Nivea) « La course, elle part maintenant. Je vais courir en classe 40 à bord de NIVEA, un bateau « fille » ! Je suis ravie de partir parce que c’est une transat mythique. Je ne sais pas si j’arriverais à faire un bon résultat ! Ça va être compliqué mais pas impossible. Il va falloir trouver le bon compromis. » En Multi50, les inscrits sont Pierre Antoine sur OLMIX Sailing Team et Lalou Roucayrol sur Team Arkema. Enfin, cette nouvelle édition de la Transat Anglaise sera marquée par l’engagement triple vainqueur de l’épreuve : Loïck Peyron. Il naviguera hors classe à bord de Pen Duick II, le bateau qui avait emmené Eric Tabarly à la victoire en 1969, lorsque la course était connue sous le nom de OSTAR. Les inscriptions pour The Transat sont ouvertes jusqu’au 8 janvier 2016.

Interesting racing and busy September

Having had an interesting very-slow-very-fast Fastnet Race, finishing 8 out of 23, we left the UK to roll home to Lorient.

The race gave a good vision on where we can improve and what needs to be done next. 

All in all a fun trip with a superb crew!!

14 hours before the start.... Side to side with our worst enemy, the Spanish Tales Mafia! Spying each other since our arrival in Monday. Great boat great crew! We'll see;)

The boat is empty and dived - we gained 5 cm of freeboard....

We had a proper last dinner and are now in our bunks for a good night of sleep, zooming into the next days. A light start, difficult transitions and a very 

eager and really nice team.

All in all we're proceeding well and are looking forward some beers in a couple of hours!!! And finally some SUNSHINE!!!!

Med -> Atlantic -> North Sea -> Baltic

So after some very busy weeks me and NIVEA finding ourselves now together with two Vikings (Peter Gustafsson & Mikael Ryking) in the Swedish Bay of Biscay as Peter Gustafsson (www.blur.se) just explained me. We are on our way to Stockholm in order to take the departure of the Round Gotland Race (http://www.ksss.se/en/AFOR/) upcoming Sunday, 28th of June.

With 3 m draft it sounds like a very nice challenge to get the boat through the rocks forming the Swedish archipelago.

March:

Leaving Palma de Mallorca - on board with me: the famous Luis Duc, new role model for NIVEA Men 48 h Stress Protect.

After stops in Portimao and Cascais we are forced to visit the Argonautas in La Coruña - due to heavy weather conditions, off course. Luis' Spanish knowledge increased significantly thx to very charming Monica.

Than I became AUNT for a third time - sending kisses to Mariana buhuhuuuuuuhuu!!!!!!!

End of March NIVEA arrived in Lorient, supposed to recover from the winter in the Med;) 

After a month of work, we headed off again. 

April:

This time accompanied by two mermaids, Valerie Tisseraud and la grande Julie Gerecht....and food for appr. two transats!!!!

Three days of downwind :))

At Terschelling, Holland, we are crossing (and overtaking hehehe) my friend Herman van Lindschoten who is a about to bring his Kofttjalk JAN HUYGEN to Hamburg.

May:

A fast delivery of in total 4 days (including Kiel Canal) is bringing us to Kiel, beginning of May. The weather started to look promising...

And the first sail in the Baltic, early "summer" (this is not me on the picture!!!) is really enjoyed;)

June:

Quiet quickly after a family cruise for the opening weekend of Kieler Woche we are now - as initially said - on our way to Stockholm.

Peter is enjoying the helm and ... because we can.... we having WiFi!!

Bye bye Med!!!!

.... 60 liters of water, 20 cup noodles, 30 cereal bars, pasta, rice, lemons, red bull, dried tomatoes and loads of other stuff is stacked and together with Louis Duc we are waiting for the right weather window to leave Palma de Mallorca.

Staying in the med since November last year was a great opportunity to keep on training during the winter. But now it's time to get back to the real world :)))
