About Anna

Born on 12th January 1981 in Bremen, Germany.

Qualified lawyer, having studied in Kiel, Madrid and Bilbao, stepped into Class40 racing during a longterm sabbatical having been employed by the maritime classification Society Germanischer Lloyd.
Several years of windsurfing and swimming competition connected her to the water until one day she discovered that sailing might not only be a boring sport for old posh men but a true challenging adventure.
Having worked on Tall Ships, followed by some intense time of J80 racing in Spain and Germany, she focused on offshore racing around the Iberian peninsula, UK and Baltic (e.g. Trofeu Quebramar, Rolex Fastnet), until she got caught by the even bigger challenge of shorthanded racing, being the first and so far only German woman to compete in the fast growing Class40 circuit.
Among others, Anna-Maria competed in the Transat Jacques Vabres, Transat Solidaire du Chocolat, Transat Quebec-St.Malo, and qualified for the Global Ocean Race 2011-12.

She underwent the selection process for Team SCA for the upcoming Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 and has recently signed up with Team OMAN SAIL for the MOD 70 MUSANDAM.
